It’s here! Hooray! I love September!

    I really do.

Everyone is home from their vacations and starting to get back into their routines. The weather is cooling off (a little) and there is a new buzz in the air.

While others think of New Years as the time for resolutions and new beginnings, I always have looked to September. Perhaps it stems from my school years when September meant a new grade, new teachers, new studies and hopefully some new clothes!! It always stirred up a feeling of excitement and curiosity in me. What would the school year be like? Would I make any new friends? Will I struggle with my lessons?  It’s certainly a time of wonder.

It was four years ago today that I packed up my life to start a new one in California. I didn’t know what to expect but I had ambition and a dream. The All-Star and I looked at it as a challenge. A challenge in life, a challenge in our relationship and a challenge in ourselves.  We have so far been successful and we continue to work to move forward.

I’m not completely sure what the new season will bring for me this year but I can already feel the positive changes stirring.

I hope for all of you a happy and beautiful September. May you be excited by new beginnings and blessed with successful challenges!!

Mahatma Gandhi said , “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Today I say, “Be the change you wish to see in yourself.”

The world is an angry and scary place. But it is also beautiful and kind. Happiness is the place where good can begin.  Be the change! Be the change you wish to see!! It starts in you!

    Happy Saturday!

It looks like everyone is trying to play a roll in getting America healthy. The YMCA has declared this week (September 20-27) America on the Move Week.  Their goal is to help communities add small but meaningful changes to their lives and incorporate activities in schools, the workplace and their homes.

60% of Americans are still not getting the recommended 30 daily minutes of activity and 25% aren’t active at all. The average annual weight gain per adult is 1-2 pounds a year.

Start moving America! The change starts today and it starts with those first few steps. Try to add extra steps to your day by taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking in further spots in parking lots. And try to eat better by cutting calories. Bring bottled water to work everyday and say “no” to sugary beverages, pack a lunch of grilled chicken with salsa and some cut veggies and avoid that snack machine. Click the link below for more helpful ideas on how you can start living healthier today and everyday.

Don't aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue... as the unintended side-effect of one's personal dedication to a course greater than oneself. Viktor Frankl
