Happy Monday!

I hope you are well.

This weekend, I noticed a woman stop on the street, close her eyes, and turn her face to the sun. You could see her delight as she tilted her head back to soak up its warmth. After many weeks of Winter chills, there again was the sun, arriving as it always does, each day a little higher in the sky – lingering just a little bit longer – delivering its promise that Spring is on its way. And that woman took a moment to notice. I don’t know who she was or what her story is, but at that moment she was the wisest person on the street. She reminded me of how easy it is to pause – and about the beauty that can be found in the present.

And there is always beauty to be found. Despite the news, despite the endless to-do’s and schedules, the practice of mindfulness gives us the ability to heighten our awareness and see what is really in front of us. It can help us deepen our relationships both with ourselves and others. It can reveal to us our deeper sense of purpose. And give us the opportunity to let inspiration and creativity arrive more authentically?

And some days it will just be stillness.

A welcomed pause.

A quiet reprieve.

A deep and intentional inhale.

A long and releasing exhale.

A closing of the eyes

and tilting of the chin.

A moment just to notice.

To reconnect.

To reset.

Each time you return, it will be different. Just as the sun is never in quite the same position in the sky, nor are the stars at night, or the moon. They are continually changing, as are we – along with each moment’s perspective. Mindfulness is an opportunity to acknowledge what is with acceptance and equanimity, perhaps just long enough to see what else might be lingering – what we may not have been noticing. Perhaps you will find the greatest beauty you’ve gazed upon all day. One that fills you with warmth and hope. And all you had to do was stop and take it in.

Thank you for taking the time to share this moment with me. New guided meditations are coming soon to Youtube and Insight Timer. In the meantime, here’s one to help you reconnect with your peace in times of stress. I hope it helps bring you closer to your place of comfort within.
