Monday Motivation #101
Another week has come and gone and here we are again on Monday…
So Happy Monday!
As you may know, I write this newsletter in real time. It’s a way for me to stay accountable and show up as my authentic self. Some Mondays I’m able to dive right in. And sometimes, like last week, my mind is quiet, so I honor that too.
However, this morning as I pleaded with my youngest daughter to brush her teeth, I thought, how can I still show up in a mindful way when my authentic self feels frustrated and frazzled? Should I switch my writing time to when I’m feeling calm and motivated? Would that be a better offering for you?
But then I realized, one – that rarely happens – feeling calm is a state of mind I have to work at – not something that comes naturally – so there will never be a perfect time, and two – what better time to pause and regroup then when I’m off balance?
And isn’t that the authenticity we all crave anyway? We want to know we aren’t the only one barely holding it together at times. We find comfort in that. And when we see others overcome their challenges we start to believe that maybe we can too. So here I am, overcoming the challenge – finding the balance – and sharing it with you.
We can fantasize about a serene state where we move about freely without distractions or difficulties, where positivity and thoughtfulness shine down on us like supermoon beams and we sit back and look at it like a beautiful picture that lasts forever. But that’s not life – at least not for me. Life is messy and wild and everyone around us is having their own experience and we try to piece together each moment so we can all exist in the same space and feel at least a little bit comfortable. And sometimes we do. And sometimes we don’t. And when we don’t, we show up anyway. Or we don’t. And that’s ok, too. Either way, give yourself grace – and remember the pause. Find that powerful moment we can always reach with the breath.
The intentional inhale.
The slow and steady exhale.
The gracious gift of beginning again.
There you will find the most authenticity. The most mindfulness.
Even if it’s sitting right there on the fringe. Perhaps you’ll realize you haven’t unraveled as much as you think you did.
Perhaps you’re only a few breaths away from feeling whole again.
And you’ll realize you’re sitting under some pretty brightly lit moonbeams after all. You’ll find it is the perfect time – to just be – even if it’s for a moment.
😊😊
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to show up, again and again – for being a gentle reminder to pause. I’m truly grateful.
We’ll be meeting tomorrow to continue this practice together. If you’re in the area, join us! 7pm at the Seaford Historical Museum. Show up as you are and let the breath do the rest.
Have a beautiful week, my friend.
Bye for now.
